Who is in charge of paying for international duties and taxes?

Purchases sent between Australia and New Zealand may be subject to duties and taxes, depending on the shipped item. Payment for any duties and taxes is the responsibility of the buyer (or "receiving party").

In Australia, goods with a value of AUD1000 or less generally do not have duties, taxes or charges to pay at the border*
